The wall at the Westway's pretty well sorted. You need to take a starters course before they'll let you out alone, and I think you can only join the supervised sessions otherwise. I'd be there more often if it wasn't 214 miles to my east.

I think I did have to give a verbal reasurance that we were qualified when I actually used it, but it was so long ago... Manchester climbing centre is sounding like a good place to have a meet-up. We could play "catch JV as he falls off". I can do my impression of an inflatable crash mat

Outside of work/forums, I spend the majority of my spare time at the gym. I train in Kickboxing, Jiu Jitsu and MMA, and have fought competitively in Kickboxing and Jiu Jitsu. I also like to read (yes, I can!) mostly non-fiction at the moment, but I love Jeffery Deaver's books. Keep saying I'm going to get myself some skates or a bike for the summer, but I haven't quite gotten 'round to it yet.

I have recently taken up the whole gym / swim thing, which I must confess I do actually enjoy, so it probably comes under hobbies.
Apart from that, I do play a strategy game (Magic the Gathering) on a relatively frequent basis.

I haven't got a lot of time outside here & work. I do get to play in my band a few times a month and have just finished setting up my equipment again for creating music. Apart from that I love my home cinema stuff but haven't bought anything in ages (although I need to rewire it)

I don't have hobbies as such, just lots of things that I'd like to do if I only had the time. Computing has to be the only thing that I get time for and that means gaming, building, rebuilding and generally messing around with PCs, mine and other peoples. I don't normally charge for work, because it's only for a small number of friends and the more I problem solve, the more that helps me with my experience. I read- all the time- fiction and non-fiction. I have recently got into buying true-life war stories some general battle/campaign stories- I am currently reading Stalingrad by Antony Beevor- and stories of individual's actions such as Colonel Tim Collin's book Rules of Engagement. I am a qualified SCUBA diver (PADI Rescue if you want to know) but I haven't been diving at all since I went to Mexico in Nov 2007 I like hill and mountain walking and scrambling and get to go ocassionally. I went up Snowdon in January in the snow and ice and it was one of the most fabulous days I have ever had in the hills. I have a large stock of sea-fishing kit, but I haven't done any of that in years- I don't call it fishing any longer, I call it going out to lose tackle. I have two paintball rifles and all the kit, but it's even longer since I did that. I have also been known to go clay-pigeon shooting, but I can't even guess how long it is since I did that either. I do the garden, but it isn't a major interest. I like photography, but it isn't a hobby in its own right. My DSLR kit, together with my knowledge and experience help to make the photographs that I take whilst on holiday, or taking part in my other interests or whatever are better than they would be with little knowledge and a point and shoot camera. I can't quite envisage me calling it a stand-alone hobby as I am not really artistic enough to simply go out with a camera and take shots for the hell of it. So basically, I read and play computer games. Sad. Very sad.

I don't really do anything...
I have really enjoyed camping, hiking, random walks, archery, horse riding and computer games...These days I spend my evenings on forums, talking to my gf and reading about stuff.
My part-time hobby at the moment is my server, I keep finding things to do and then start mini-projects (which rarely get finished). My latest is a series of scripts which will be run ever few minutes to check for new content in my media folders and update a web page so I can give guests a log in and they can stream media across the network...

i have a wife and 4 kids but i still have time for hobbies,i collect pubic hairs and i have 2 up to now,i polish them with liquid wax every night and we often have a chat together, you know, about life in general, its nice to have a friend that listens.a couple of years a go one went missing,i was devestated, for 3 whole nights i didnt sleep but then i found it stuck to the toilet bowl,i think it had suicide tendencies but we got over it together and where happy again now. so dont give up john we should all have a little hobby away from the family,if only for a couple of minutes a day. cheers spunky
