I get mildly annoyed when using applications that are hosted on the web. For example, I'll use web mail if I have to, but I'd much rather use Apple Mail or Thunderbird...

Anyhoo, I've found an answer, and I think it's rather good. IT's called Gruml. It basically replicates Google Reader functionality using a local app. It's in beta at the moment and it does feel quite "beta-ish", but I'm hoping for a Mail type solution where I can view my old feeds and entries offline if I want to.

I'm not sure how Google-reader-ish it is, but NetNewsWire now syncs with Google Reader to provide a web interface, rather than using its own proprietary one.

I prefer a separate news reader because you can get it to download the news items separately, without overwhelming a browser.

Sorry, yes, NetNewsWire is a seperate app, and I use it much like I believe Ben uses Gruml.

Edd, I tried NetNewsWire, I like it, it certainly feels more polished than Gruml and it has some nice features which Gruml is currently missing.

I use NewsFire. It has its faults but is pretty good.

Is Gruml a special porn site RSS reader?
