Had a little play with one today and it's very nice.

It wasn't really possible to see the full workings of timescape or mediascape as it requires setting up accounts and contacts etc... and I couldn;t have done that on a demo phone. It did see very snappy though in what it was doing. I missed the multitouch though. I took a picture with the camera (which was very good) but then had to keep tapping the + magnifying glass to zoom in incrementally :( Apparently the lack of multitouch on the phone is a hardware thing so it is stuck that way and unfixable by any firmware updates :(

One thing I did like very much is the whole concept of timescape. Your phone is a means of contacting people you know, so why not design an OS around your contacts. Every text, email, facebook update, tweet, etc... from your contacts is shown in a very cool translucent GUI on the home screen of the phone. You can flip through them in a similar fashion to coverflow and expand the info on the email, etc... or have a look at the contact and all their other message and phone, text, email, etc... straight from there. It seems all the major phone features are within a button press or two. Very slick.

I'm beginning, again, to weigh up the options of going on another contract (the length of which has now moved up to a ridiculous 24 months) for £35 a month or to go for PAYG which costs me £10 a month but I have to pay out a hell of a lot to get a phone but save money in the long run.

Still going to wait for the new iPhone before doing anything though :D

I dont like these 24 month contracts to be honest. It was bad enough having 18. My brother has been asking about this phone. I've not seen much of it myself. I did tell him to check out the HTC Desire too.

I am in the same position. I think that I will get the iPhone on PAYG with Tesco or a low contract. Plus it is only 12 months. I can always renew a 12 month contract. I hate longer contracts than that. If the phone has to be more expensive then so be it.

If one is diving so close to the limits that +/- 1% will make a difference then the error has already been made.

The US has had long contracts for a while as well.

Germany as well.

Italy also has long term contracts, most people I know there hay pay as you go and buy their own handsets.

The 12 month contracts seem to be very short, compared to most countries.
