really? i found searching stuff in the package manager much easier than trawling through websites looking for drivers/programs etc. but if you are going for the real Linux "nought but Terminal" approach, then i see your point  i guess not all of us can be as l33t with computermabobs as Sergei though

drivers for ma graphics card, the default ones dont have 3D acceleration  i just wanted them for the "wobbly windows" effect  and will probably need them when i start putting games on it everything else was picked up fine, even my X-Fi, which i heard arent usually supported

I think I'll give this one a miss - I actually intend to stick with 10.04 throughout it's LTS life-cycle.
