For those that like that sort of thing. They have ripped one apart to see what was inside. http://www.informationweek.com/news/per ... =224201249

Shouldn't that be an iPod touch inside? It cannot make phone calls.

http://blogs.zdnet.com/hardware/?p=7935&tag=nl.e539iWorks users frustrated and disappointed with iPad versions... Pages on the iPad removes table of contents (changed to normal text), footnotes, endnotes etc. and 3D graphs are converted into 2D graphs. Grouped objects are ungrouped. Linked text boxes are unlinked. Only iPad fonts can be used. Large tables (spreading over page boundaries) are split into separate tables. Documents using page layout are converted into simple wrapped text WP documents. Keynote does similar things, including 3D graphs to 2D, grouped objects ungrouped etc. On top of that, all presenter notes and comments are stripped out of the presentation! If you then make the mistake of editing the documents on the iPad, the information that is stripped out is lost forever when synced back to the Mac. | | | | Apple wrote: Will there be changes to a Keynote for Mac document that I import? In many cases, you will see no difference when a document is imported and converted to the Keynote for iPad optimized file format. - Grouped objects are ungrouped. Styles, order, and location are retained.
- Presenter Notes and Comments are not imported.
- 3D charts are converted to 2D charts. Chart data is retained and editable.

- Tables that span more than one page are split into separate one-page tables.
- All links other than weblinks are removed.

Not good and not what you would expect. I expect an update to be in the pipeline PDQ but I suspect that this is the first of a long list of frustrations people are going to face with a version 1.0 product.

That is a very good reason not to rush into getting the iPad version of iWork until these are fixed.

Depends if you use those features or not I suppose. Personally I've always thought 3D graphs look a bit naff in documents. Jon

Although it would look a bit odd if you are giving a presentation and the people in the meeting have a printout to go along with the presentation, that shows 3D representations and the one projected on the wall only has 2D version? What if you have made a complex object made up of hundreds of basic objects, you'd be a bit miffed it it suddenly ungrouped itself? Or you need to repaginate a document and find that your automatic table of contents is now static text and you have to update all the page numbers by hand? Or all those nice footnotes you had explaining things in the text have disappeared?

3 D graphs are more of a gimmick unless you are dealing with three variables. Even then not always necessary.

I don't think this will affect many. Bloody irritating for those that it does affect though.
Apple must know that few people use Keynote and that even fewer use the advanced features. Else this would have been addressed. Now it has made a news splash I expect there will be a team working on it as a matter of urgency.

I use Keynote but not that often. Powerpoint is misused as well.

I will only use Keynote, PowerPoint and Presenter just doesn't feel as good to use. Keynote allows me (without a single creative atom in my body) to create presentations that actually don't look half bad.
