But won't O2 open the phone for you? They should if it is out of contract.

I'm with Orange atm but I'm fairly happy with the network. I may drop the tariff for a couple of months though.

I did this a couple of days ago. Will make a nice saving over the months. You can do it online as well. Though if you are running O2's iPhone app, you will need to reboot the phone as changing tariff breaks it. Something to do with the APN. Rebooting fixes it.

The new OS looks cool, I do like the new iAds concept, will be interesting to play with it. I am disappointed that my iPod is being dropped, I'll have to buy a new iPod to play with it all now

Will we soon have an iAds blocker available soon?

Not possible I'd have thought, given it's built into the OS. You'd have to hack bits of the iPhone OS that the user account doesn't normally have access to. So you might need to jailbreak to avoid the iAds. Plus even if you could write that app, you certainly won't ever see it on the app store . The high quality version is now up on Apple's events podcast feed, btw. The folder stuff looks very useful - I kind of do that already using different screens but having them in popups will be much more convenient. I suspect I'll end up having one or two screens full of my 'use all the time' apps and four folders in the dock with everything else in. The question is whether the folders are 'smart' or not e.g. if I have a 'games' folder and download a new app from the iShop 'games' category, will it automatically go in that folder? I'll probably like the new Mail app and iPhone iBooks too. I only have a 3G though so no multitasking support. Luckily, I'm due an upgrade just as the next IPhone is due to come out...

I was joking about the iAds blocker.

iAds will be an option for free apps. Just like admob is used at the moment. Apple don't like google earning money from the free apps people download from the app store.

If it comes with a video camera I will need an iPhone version of Final Cut or iMovie to edit the clips with!
