I used to prefer simplytweet. It doesn't do all of the complicated stuff but for simply reading & sending tweets it's much better than any of the others I've tried. However they want people to pay again for the new version so they can sod off. I'm told twitbit is good but I haven't tried it yet.

I use Tweetie - it’s a very good app for the iPhone. I like it a lot.

I use Tweetdeck - mainly because it is synced across my Windows, OS X and iPhone devices.

Yup. I'm just waiting for the desktop app to go to 2.0.

+1 I like the desktop version too. I wonder if this will continue now Tweetie’s an official Twitter app?

That's what I'm concerned about. Tweetie (for iPhone) is being renamed to something along the lines of "Twitter for iPhone" or whatever it is. Will Twitter want to develop a Mac-only client in-house, especially as there's all this talk off ad-based revenue, which seemingly for the moment isn't part of a user's live feed, so won't appear in a client, just the website.

The original developer of Tweetie is being kept on by Twitter so I suspect they will have a say in what gets developed in future. Mark

I know, but going by memory of what I read on his and the Twitter blogs it seems like he is now an employee of Twitter, working on/in charge of "Twitter for iPhone". There was no mention of the whole Tweetie suite of apps being ported, and I guess he'll no longer be able to use the Tweetie (iPhone) 2.0 code in a Tweetie (OS-X) client, even if he developed it himself in his own time.
