Office workers should have access to a slop bucket near their desks to dispose of apple cores, tea bags and under food waste, according to Government plans to improve recycling by business.

Another headline grabber, when the outcome will have about as much effect as, well, an old used teabag

Then let me be the first to ask....

WTF is "under food waste?"

I'm guessing a typo for 'other'?

Yes, we have them here at work. Along with plastics, cardboard, batteries and paper recycling bins.

When I posted it I wondered if anyone would link it to prisoners having to slop out in the morning. No one took that bait. ;)

The idea is good along with recycling bins. By having simple recycling bins for organic, paper and metal waste is good. If companies can get such refuse recycled and as such reduce their refuse collection bills that is good.

We've had recycling bins at work for a while (long before I started). People were pretty good at using them, but apparently for a long time the guy that emptied them was completely oblivious to the colour coding and had simply been chucking everything out as straight rubbish!

If the smells could be contained, this could be very good. What I don't want is food remaining in the bins for days on end.

It should be emptied daily. In the summer there will be hot offices and flies it will not be pleasant if left too long.
