Geordie? Sexy? No.. Look.... just no. Harsh accents of whatever form simply aren't sexy. It's the same with languages. French and Italian are seen as sexy where as German isn't because the former are more sibilant whereas the latter is more staccato.
As has been suggested the sexiest accents (at least in women, can't comment otherwise) are those which are quite soft and, to make an obvious point, 'breathy'. Southern Irish, lowland Scottish, possibly north Wales a bit. English you're probably looking at a mild cornish accent maybe. But Geordie isn't sexy for the same reason Brummie isn't.

I think that more people might have been swayed by the geordie image of Cheryl Cole. If were some munter with the same voice the response would be very different.

Too true! I would agree that Geordie is possibly the sexiest in the UK; and while I'd also agree that the Brummie and Wolverhampton accents are grim, the Sarf Lundun/Essex variant is awful too, knoworrimean? The most alluring is European ladies speaking English with their own accent

Most English regional accents mildly annoy my if they are really pronounced, and the more northern I go the more it grates on me...Then again, the west country accent is fairly irritating at times...

I love the traditional irish accent.
I have heard an Irish woman speak a list of words beginning with the letter R and I have known what it is meant by swooning. Even though I'm a guy.

For some reason the worst accent on a woman is a scouse one. It puts me off straight away.
