Can anyone tell me if this is worth watching or not? I see it's going for £18 on blu-ray, I've never seen it although I've heard good things. Does it really live up to the hyped-up reviews on Amazon etc?

Buy it, excellent series, well worth the money. If you've seen Saving Private Ryan you'll like it.
I can't wait for the Pacific box set (made by the same people as Band of Brothers) when it's released - don't have Sky so will miss it.

Borrowed it off a friend some years ago, nearly bought it at £40, £18 is an absolute steal.

Paid twice as I have it on DVD and BD. Have seen it probably 4 times. UN-MISSABLE television!
And not only that, it's cheaper than Iron Man. Get involved!

It's possibly the best TV series made anywhere in the last decade. Utterly essential, especially in HD. The episode 'Carantan' is possibly the best single hour of television I've seen in... years. At least I thought that, until I saw 'Why We Fight'.

I am watching this for the first time ever, and on BluRay. It’s an excellent series.
It also has more of an interest for me because a lot of it was filmed in Hertfordshire, mostly in Hatfield, but a fair amount in Leavesden - I used to drive past the studios on my way to work, and saw the sets. They built whole villages.

Never watched the 'Band of Brothers' but saw and enjoyed the first episode of 'Pacific' while I was in the US, which has now started showing on sky movies as of yesterday.

I could argue that Jon. But for the purposes of this thread, it's definitely ONE OF the best TV shows of the last decade (if not ever). For the record, on the evidence so far - The Pacific is very, very good, but doesn't feel quite up there. I'll wait for the whole thing before I pass complete judgement though.

Just in case you haven't heard, Sky 3 are running a "Free Pass Weekend" this Saturday and Sunday, which features the first two epsiodes of The Pacific, I think it's shown on Saturday night. That will have to do until the box set is released, I guess.

Christ knows, hopefully sometime this summer - after it's finished running on Sky. Amazon still only have a "Notify me when it's available" notice on the pages for The Pacific. *sigh*
