As always, people seem to forget that Deep Purple did more than just Smoke on the Water. Highway Star is a much better track in my opinion.

i woulda put Hush in there tbh, i know its not their song, but imo its one of the best songs ever :)

also isnt it a little unfair putting Led Zep in there 3 times? And The Who twice? And no Skynyrd?!?

Certainly the lack of Skynyrd is a very valid point, they are a fairly underrated band. Having said that, Led Zeppelin are simply awesome.

I never got led zep. I listen to it and never got emotional. It's not like a good early Placebo song :)

I was thinking that walking home today. The other week someone at work asked me if I'd heard of Skynyrd. I was shocked and appalled. Then they tried to tell me I would only have heard their "one song". Hrmph!

I'm not sure Led Zep ever really aimed at emotional, it struck me more as being about having a good time making music than anything. Which albums have you listened to?

led zepplins song was probably nominated by freemasons, thats the song when played backwards you can hear (very clearly) sing

"Oh here's to my sweet Satan, the one whose little path would make me sad, whose power is Satan, he'll give those with him 666
There was a little tool shed where he made us suffer, sad Satan"

why put this junk in rock songs?

You are staggeringly full of [LIFTED] you know. They were known to dabble in occult activities, that does not make them Freemasons.

Rock n roll.... its got to be Ace of Spades from Motorhead. Small beer to some but sums up the hedonism that is what it was all about.

Quote:
In response to the allegations, Swan Song Records issued the statement: "Our turntables only play in one direction—forwards". Led Zeppelin audio engineer Eddie Kramer called the allegations "totally and utterly ridiculous. Why would they want to spend so much studio time doing something so dumb?" Robert Plant expressed frustration with the accusations in a 1983 interview in Musician magazine: "To me it's very sad, because 'Stairway to Heaven' was written with every best intention, and as far as reversing tapes and putting messages on the end, that's not my idea of making music."

And more importantly why no AC/DC?
