I'm thinking of buying a Time Capsule on eBay, and putting a nice big whopper of a hard drive in it.
Because it's going to be turned on 24/7 I want to buy one of the new low power/energy efficient ones on the market.
It will primarily be used for backups, so speed isn't really a major issue - but I want it to use as little power as possible, so it stays nice and quiet and doesn't use too much power.
What's good on the market at the moment?
I've seen a few options, but not sure how they compare - and the Western Digital green ones only seem to go up to 1.5TB.

WD Green, Samsung F3 drives (the 5400rpm ones) F3 drives come out as similar performance to the other 7200rpm drives I think Seagate do one too but as a 5900rpm one, not sure about Maxtor and others If it is to be used 24/7 you may want to spend a bit more and get one of the 24/7 drives, I think they are the WD Black ones

I've got 6 1.5tb F3 eco's in my media server & they're silent. Hardly any power draw as well.

The most efficient are SSDs but they're nowhere near the capacity you sound like you need. Not yet anyways.
Like Fin says, WD Green and Sammy F3s. I think Samsung also do an eco range?

I thought the Eco range were the 5400rpm drives now the F3's or the 2.5" drives?

Quite right, the ECO F3s. I was just thinking of the bog standard F3s (7200rpm?). Aye, the F3s are speedy little, well big (2TB? What do you put on there! ), things. I presume that extends to the eco 5400rpms too.

The drive I linked to is 5400rpm too, but it doesn't say it's an Eco so there must be more of a difference than just the speed??
Either that or they've made a mistake on the listing on ebuyer.

My 1.5tb Eco3 is 5400rpm but isn't marked as a Green/Eco one

Going by the manufacturer code (HD203WI) on the ebuyer page it links to think clicky. Says it's an EcoGreen F3.
