The Norwegian PM has apparently been running the country from his iPad Clicky whilst he has been stranded in New York by the Icelandic volcanic ash cloud. Obviously the high tech, high personal income and state of the art Norwegian economy needs an up-to-the minute high-tech device such as an iPad to run it (I know I am going to regret writing that!). I wonder what device Gordon uses when he is away from home. Perhaps a BBC Micro?

Do you think Apple gave him an iPad to get the publicity?

My guess he'd throw staplers at a lacky who knows how to work the desk telephone.

I think Flash and Darling have been doing the sums on a Casio calculator watch; Brown furiously stabbing at the tiny buttons

Maybe he got it as a way of appeasing the Norwegian trade regulator over ITunes selling terms? ;)

He must have bought one in the Apple store in New York then went over to the Genius bar to see if they have a workshop on "How to run your country from an iPad" demo. ;)

Well, if no-one else is going to say it:-

Down at the Secret Nuclear BUnker in Kelvedon Hatch, where government would have been seated during an atomic war, it’s set out as it would be used - and it’s full of BBC Micros, using Econet as the network.

We had Acorns - all BBC Model Bs - and a network, but that network ran off the RML4380Z and connected via the user port. The thing about the RML was that it had no hard drives, so the two floppy drives were what was shared. But then programmes were about 8K or less, so you could get a lot on a disk.
