Just went for a walk in Roundhay park whilst the sun was out.
Got there and I was walking over the fields and nearly tripped on a piece of glass. I looked then and saw that an empty vodka bottle had been smashed into razor sharp pieces and scattered all over the area.
I carried on walking and got over the brow of the hill to find at least 200-300 m squared covered in rubbish, plastic bags, used barbecues, plastic bottles, glass bottles and broken pieces of glass bottles.
What is the f*cking point? I saw a policeman on a bicycle at the other side of the field cycling towards the area I was in so started walking towards him but when I got to within 100m he turned the other way and cycled off.
It's completely covering the area of the park which we use to train on which means we will have to move somewhere else. Someone will have to clean it up (not sure who to contact esp. on a Sunday afternoon?) and the bunch of tw*ts that did it will get off scott free and probably do it again!
I just wish I'd been there and managed to get some photos of them to report them.
Why ruin a perfectly good park?

Right, I've contacted the park office and let them know and they said they'll get onto it.
I just wish people had the decency not to do it in the first place!

It's what this 'wonderful' weather does to places like that. I was having a BBQ on the beach last night, although we cleaned up after ourselves, there were numerous used BBQ's, plastic wrappers, etc that were scattered around...These won't get cleaned up, they'll wash into the sea...
It bugs me that people aren't more considerate.

This isn't a rubbish dump though, it's the biggest urban park in Europe and the nicest place in Leeds.

So... you didn't take the initiative in clearing them up yourself then? I cleared up a load of sandwich wrappers and other crap from the beach I usually stop at on my way home from work. Sadly, it's approaching tourist season and that's apparently a cue for folk to drop crap all over our beaches, only metres from a bin, and leave it. Fun fact for you - something like 90% of fulmers in the North Sea have the equivalent amount of plastic in their stomachs as you eating an entire dinner plate full of plastic. Beached whale's stomach found to be full of fresh trash - ClickyIt's a huge problem that will come back to haunt us, and one that's so terribly simple to solve. What gets into the environment as waste inevitably ends up in our food as well.

We were struggling with our own rubbish TBH. I would hope that the friends who stayed later than I did would have done so, but I doubt it.

Well at least he tried to report it and get the relevant people to clean it up, which is more than most people do. Besides, why should he risk cutting his hands to pieces on shattered glass, you could catch all sorts of stuff from a glass cut, especially in a park where dogs sh!t. Most of us don't go out equipped with thick gloves and bin liners, just on the offchance, to clear this crap up. It does make me seething mad too, I regularly go back to see my folks in the Yorkshire Dales - a lovely place that's increasingly spoilt by the sight of rubbish thrown out of car windows by mindless tw@ts. What's wrong with these people, I was always taught to keep my rubbish until I found a bin - or take it home with me - and that's something I still do now. It's not exactly hard, is it?! At the end of the day, it's just selfishness really. No one gives a sh!t now, do they?

So was I. That's the difference. Many kids these days are taught nothing at all.
