There's a bit of a flaw in Bratty's argument, if we want our species to continue in some form or another..

Then again, removing the ability for humans to procreate might just be a blessing in disguise.

You don't need men to procreate :s

But it is indeed very fun :D

What is a life without sex like?

You learn to deal with it. You can't make a commitment unless you accept that it's a commitment you'll have to make every day. You also come to understand that going without coitus doesn't have to stop you being a warm, sexual and sensual person.

Besides which, after a life of drink, drugs and violence it certainly makes for a good talking point (and conversation stopper). I'm glad I waited and I'm very proud of myself.

That said however, I am rather looking forward to a certain day in July ;)

What? So not having sex means you can't be warm and close and comforting to someone you love? All that's tied up in sex, is it?

I think you can have good non sexual relationship with people, which are deep and meaningful. However it's not really fair to say that sex is not important. It's different, it's not meant to replace human relations in any way, shape or form.

Sex is only as important as the meanings that the individual imbue it with.
I know that that might sound obvious, but for some people it's not important at all - for whatever reason - and it has no noticeable detrimental reaction on the individuals life.

Sorry Mark, I meant to say "a life without sex CAN MEAN...."

You are of course right, it's important to different people to varying degrees. To people with high levels of serotonin in their brains, not so much. To those with a fair bit of oestrogen maybe a little more (although they will emphasize the sensual and bonding elements over the raw experience). People who's brains are flush with dopamine or testosterone will be far more interested. That goes for men and women.

That said, as I pointed out, it can be less complicated and it does get to be less of a distraction.

However, for me personally it's not a choice to not have sex. I choose to not go near women any more. That's a whole nother thread though...
