Not so, Nigger was a codeword for a successful breach of the Mohne Dam. This name was chosen because Gibson's dog, a black labrador had that name, and was killed shortly before the raid.

Ahh, I have learnt something today - I knew the dogs name was Nigger, but not that it had been used as the code word.
Stupid historicals and their lack of forward thinking! ;)

I made that point on the previous page (8-p)

Well then, like Al, I ignored you and have also learnt something today!

Fair play, keep the Nigger.

There's racial undertones in the naming of the dog then? I guess it was more acceptable back then?

I think it was me who said that. :)

Anyway, whether it is acceptable or not I still believe it shouldn't be changed on the grounds that it may offend a couple of people.

If one is diving so close to the limits that +/- 1% will make a difference then the error has already been made.

What really bugs me is that a lot of decent French movies got bought and remade for american/english speaking market, such as taxi. Why can't Americans watched dubbed movies?

Taxi, Nikita.... :D :D :D :D

My French isn't good enough to follow the movies without subtitles, but even so the films are much better than the American offerings.

Fox confirm Commando remake

Quote:
In the original, Schwarzenneger played John Matrix, a retired special-forces hard-case who is forced into assisting a military coup when his daughter is kidnapped by a power-hungry warlord.

Naturally, Arnie reacted by shooting everybody, so will this “real-world” approach have Ayer’s leading man playing things differently? The word is this Matrix will be more of a covert operator, a la Jason Bourne, so expect any chewy one-liners to be kept to a minimum.

What is the fcuking point of that? :x

The one liners made it so fun. Strip that out and while it may be grittier not necessarily any more entertaining.

Stick around.

Haven't seen it in over ten years but I can remember those easily.

True, but it's mind-boggling when it comes to Commando, especially when it's effectively been remade a million times over anyway (The Marine as a recent example)
