You have to wonder if he is doing this on purpose, or is he going to be always remembered as Politics’ Mr Bean? http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/ ... 649012.stm

If she's not in the book, I'd be interested to know how Gordon got her phone number...

It's not as if the man wasn't doing something I'm sure we've all done at some time. You can bet the other leaders have said much the same in the privacy of their battle buses, too.
It also shows the dangers of being wired for sound at all times. I suspect, as of right now, there's going to be a big "KILL" button on everyone's radio mics to turn them off when they're done.

Precisely. The leader doesn't have to get on with all of the electorate, as long as they're treated fairly.

Once they have our votes they do not care. Lets see what they actually do once they are elected.

It’s not what he said, but the fact that he was caught saying it that is the problem. The other parties are not using this as they know full well that they have done this too. There will be damage limitation squads in place right now. I bet Cameron thought some unpleasant things about that student who collared him the other day. He probably bitched about that disabled kid’s dad too. The thing is, our leaders do have to actually meet us. IF people say something they don’t like, then maybe they are out of touch. Brown is not on a “tell me I’m right” tour, despite what he may personally think.

Perhaps it also highlights just how out of touch with the real people on the ground our political masters have become.
If GB felt that a grandmother asking questions about immigration policy was bigoted, gawd help us.

The exchange between them is being played to death on News 24, and doubtless any other channel with not much else to talk about. The exchange is not one I would call bigoted. Maybe she’s a little out of touch with where those pesky Eastern Europeans are coming from and why, but I saw nothing there that would flag any concerns. She was worried about her grandchildren’s education, the vast amount of debt the country is in as well. The problem is that Brown does over react, and he has been kept away from the public by his campaign team. No the problem is that they can’t suddenly sequester him back to the battle bus and stage managed events because that affirms that he’s incapable of dealing with people. He’s going to have to up his game, and tomorrow there is another debate. I still think Labour is taking a dive, though now it seems far less subtle than it did a couple of weeks ago.

You know what I couldn't care less.
So, he said something he didn't want overhearing. That's actually made him more personable IMO. I wasn't sure anything would have.
Now it's turning into a big 24 hour news drama, give me strength.

This story was broken by Sky. Rupert Murdoch supports the Tories. Do the maths.

Well GB only has himself to blame for those remarks.
It shows the public what he is really like behind the facade.
