I don't know a single person now who doesn't regret even getting half-cut the next morning, yet every one of them a couple of days later will be telling you they can't wait to get out to do it again

I've never regretted getting drunk.

I know the sort of people you mean though and they really annoy me. They generally spend the whole of Monday telling everyone how hung over they are, the whole of Tuesday telling everyone how drunk they were and will never drink again, then spend all of Friday telling everyone how drunk they are going to get at the weekend. Very annoying.

The thing is it's not the getting drunk thing,it's more the 2 quick ones on the way home and i been busy so i forgot to eat lunch so after 2 I am a bit happy .
When/If we go to parties that can last all day here in sunshine land I can drink all day and most of the night and never feel as if I am :drunk: mainly because of all the food and the fact you are not rushing the drinking ,I remember years ago in Birmingham and London everyone charging to the bar for last orders and getting a pint and a short because if you were going to carry on it meant going to a club and the prices were double or more ,we don't get that here you could drink all day and all night If you felt so inclined.Ok some of the lout's on holiday do drink a lot and get loud , but on the whole it's more laid back .
So anyway day 4 and teh only beer I am missing is the ones going past me with condensation dripping off them and me thinking mmmmmh. ;) ;)

I suspect it's rather similar to how I can sit outside the student union in summer with a pint and think that while I'm not craving one, a cigarette would be rather pleasant, or be playing pool and feel that a pint would be rather nice. If I decided I was going to give up drinking then this wouldn't be too bad since I could substitute the beer for a coke or some such; the biggest issue I have with giving up smoking is the feeling from time to time I should have something between my fingers. A lot of it is due to having something to hold or how well such and such would work at that moment in time, rather than addiction. :-)

If you feel social pressure in drinking, to be honest, change your friends.

I enjoy a nice cider or beer every now and then. ( the Apple in Bristol = awesome cider boat) But drinking to get drunk never appealed to me

If your friends do pressure you into drinking then they are not good friends. I do tell friends when I think that they are drinking too much but not excessively.
