There may be separate markets but how much overlap is there?

Given you can't be in two places at once, next to none I'd imagine.

We are not talking about the same person but the same demographic. There may be people who would sometimes go to the cinema who would now stream instead. There are many who would never go to the cinema who wait till the DVD is out and many who wait till it is broadcast on the TV. I would imagine that the studio would get a smaller share each time for each viewer further down the viewing chain they are.

I used to go to the cinema quite often. Now with the baby its not so easy. I would still chose cinema over home streaming but it does provide a useful alternative.

If streaming is stupidly fast and it's easy to rewind/pause, then I may consider it though given I don't like PPV, I'm not sure I would go for it.

I have the same attitude towards PPV. I have never tried it and probably never will.

I've got a BT Vision box and the PPV stuff is reasonable. Obviously HD stuff needs to be downloaded first but SD is on demand. Rew/FF works too.

I do not have an HD TV yet so it is a moot point really for me.
