Does the Joojoo count as a still birth in terms of iPad killers or a quick kill by the iPad?

Between that and HP slate, I think we need another category - 'iPad kIl...oh.'

I don't think the iPad killed it, if the specs were better then perhaps it may have been an option. Also the with the whole fusion garage debacle who would trust a company that operated so poorly.

Don't think the iPad (especially the price) made anyone look at the JooJoo favourably, though. Trouble is it was only ever designed to be a web-tablet - basically just 12" screen and a browser. No apps, no off-line ability (though this was rumoured to be 'coming soon') so if there's no WiFi it's just a lump.

Still, if you wanted a WiFi-only 12" tablet with a 5-hour battery life for casual evening 'sofa-surfing' than it's not unappealing - as long as it was half the price. One of the pundits (Andy Ihnatko?) called the $499 price-point in the post-iPad tablet market the 'third rail' i.e. you get close to it and you're in danger, you touch it, you die; pretty much sums it up I think.

Cheers, Pete
