Hopefully, if that happens, they will throw in the fact that they don't stop terrorism. It certainly didn't work in Spain and I can't see terrorists being stumped as to how to make copies.

The ones that committed 9/11 attacks all had legal identification, and the UK tube bombers did not hide their identities.

They also had barely trained pilots being able to perform manoeuvres in jumbos that experienced Air Force veterans said they would find difficult to do... That's another thread though...

Yes but that is what comes of playing flight simulators.

Darn, means I have to still carry my passport with me at all times. I was hoping I could get something to fit in my wallet, like the German ID cards...

Fantastic news if it's true! My current one is the old style and expires March 2013, so I was thinking I might have to get my travel on ASAP before I have to be on a database. As for the US, you still have to give a thumbprint on entry now anyway. At least you did in 2007 when I last went. Out of interest, why?

I think that they take them all now. Not 100% sure on that though.

Yes they take them all – you put your fingers on a “scanner” – at least now you can put them all down at once and not have to do them one at a time. You also have to fill in the “visa that’s not a visa” form, on line although it is good for 2 years – free at the moment but they plan to start charging from later on this year. I have a US visa but still tend to travel on the visa waiver programme as its easier – the staff at the airports know how that works but if use my visa they have to think about it and I am not sure they have been recruited for their brain power

The one's in ATL certainly haven't DIA's a little better in my experience. But ultimately you're right, visa waiver is just easy.

I might apply for one while it is still free even though I have no plans to visit yet. I suppose within the next two years I will make a trip over there.
