Following on from from the debate about O2's recent "fail" with their adverts and website, I'm curious to know about how often we all switch provider.

For the poll I'm excluding individual virtual providers who use other people's networks, (eg Virgin, who use T Mobile) and lumping them into one group.
If the company has changed name (eg BT Cellnet is now O2) just vote for the current name.

Obviously the older forum members here will have had more time with mobiles, and maybe moved more often than our younger members who may not have had a mobile for very long. I'm just curious to see if people move often to get the best deal, or if they have a reason for staying with one company.

EDIT

I should point out this poll is about your choice of provider, not one you've been given by work.

I've used every network in the past and I'm currently on Orange.

No particular reason.

Will probably change when the new iPhone comes out if they don't give me a decent price.

I've been with Orange PAYG since December 1999.

I'm on my third phone, which is second hand.

Same.

Thinking about it I also have an O2 mobile, but that's for work.

Vodafone: 1999 to date.
Not always the best deals but they historically had better signals in some area. On field trips at uni I often had a signal when my friends didn't. I don't know how true that is today, but until I have a reason to move I'll stay with them. I did look at t-Mobile when I bought my new phone last month, but the price was the same and the extras they offered me over Vodafone were thing I'd never really use.

Vodafone and Orange on and off from the start - no other (decent) coverage up here. I voted pie as there was no specific option. I nearly always vote pie :D

I was with T mobile then virgin for a decade then switched to O2, and have been with them for 5 years.

Orange since 1999, but had an O2 phone in addition to that for about 18mths a couple of years ago.

Best coverage (down here at least), best deal, best service. O2 were very, very good. Their website was, at the time, superior to Orange and they were great on the phone. Couldn't get signal when I moved to the flat at work, so they had to go and I cancelled my original 10yr old contract with Orange and took out another SIM only one.

O2 - been with them for years, for personal and company phones.

The missus switched to vodafone last time round, but can't wait for the contract to end. Dreadful signal, pretty much anywhere.

I've always been on Orange contract. It started in 2000/2001 with Orange Everyday 50 and a free Nokia 7110. I almost left last year when they messed me around but on starting a contract with O2 they were so poor it encouraged me to stick with Orange.

The only other phone I had was a BT Cellnet PAYG in 1999 with free landline calls (I think it was a Philips Genie)

I had everyday 50 with a 7110, but I started in '99 and paid £29.99 for the phone. Had that same contract and number for ten years.

I've had the same number since I started too. Eleven years and counting now. The good thing these days is that if I ever do move provider, I can take the number with me.
