If one is diving so close to the limits that +/- 1% will make a difference then the error has already been made.

I consider myself a citizen of the world, and I don't know any aliens.

From all over the place. My best friends are English, but my friends are from all over the place. I have friends in about 90 countries.

All of my non-British friends are Italian or Czech.

Dunno, Bratty seems to have an obsession with people being 'foreign'.

The only time I see that as being applicable nowadays, as I have friends all over the world, is when it's applied to attitude rather than location.

You get great people in every country and twats in every country, so location is unimportant.

jonbwfc I was behind her in a queue today - but I wouldn't describe it as 'bushy'.

Agreed. I pick friends on their attitudes not their nationality.

Sometimes differing cultural perspectives can make for interesting conversation. Societies that exclude "outsiders" quickly become inbred in the head; be them American states, small social circles or groupings in politics. I'm not suggesting choosing friends based on nationality, but there's no getting away from the fact than "foreigners" are generally more interesting!

Unsurprisingly given my location, the friends I see most often are from England.

There's one German I see most days, but she's lived here so long she now has a Geordie accent and she's never really been "typically German". She has flaming red hair and a great sense of irony. Even as a child she loved England and decided to come here as soon as she could, the crazy girl...

I used to date a girl who was born in Surinam, but lived in Holland from an early age. Her earlier ancestry was Indian.

Back at college, I knew lots of people from all over the world. Unfortunately I've lost touch with most of them; something which may not have happened if we'd had telephones and internet back then. There were people from Germany, Japan, Africa and Italy who I called friends. The girl I dated back then was born in America, grew up in Italy and went to college in Germany.
