Often forgotten is the included Cloud & BT Openzone access on the iphone too...

Yeah, but as a customer who has never used this feature I'd prefer it if that was available as a bolt-on.

I got my first phone for emergency use at the age or 12 or 13. It was PAYG and I hardly used it. I was on Virgin at the time.

When I upgraded my handset (I was around 19 at this point), I moved to Orange as the majority of people I called and texted used them. I've been with them for the last three years.

Here's another who decided he couldn't get an iPhone because the only carrier doesn't offer good enough coverage.

It was brought up at the D8 conference where Jobs gave some sort of an answer:

I'm now reliably informed from my US contacts there are in fact four carriers in the US. None of them come of particularly well in the service stakes.

Yes you only have to see some of the blogs to see how upset they are with all of them.

Blimey, O2 are popular!

EDIT

Forgot about all the Apple lemmings who got iPhones when they were exclusive. Still, it shows what a good deal O2 got out of that!

I got my X1 a few weeks after the 3g came out, got it for 50% less on contract and £100 off the phone because I didn't get an iphone :)

Probably because of the iPhone. If the iPhone had not been as successful would they have felt compelled to offer you such a deal? I think not.

It was why I went for it..... That is why most of the other phones can be had with a decent discount because the iphone is so popular and they dont do discounts on them

Without the iPhone I doubt that they would have even considered a discount. So even non iPhone buyers benefit from its being there.
