lol, I've never exactly followed it. I just watch it on TV when it's on after the pub. Although there is a plot progression, it's episodic enough to just watch now and then.

The only plot progression seems to be Leonard's relationship with Penny.

the was also the whole Howard/Berndette thing, (and also Howard/his mum thing!) and let's not forget the relationship between Sheldon and Penny. It's been interesting seeing how their relationship has changed from disdain to what you could probably call friendship...

In a recent episode he referred to hr as a friend and Howard as an acquaintance. :)
