I think that's true and that's why he is paired with Simon Mayo who provides more of a man-in-the-street viewpoint. Sometimes Kermode's rants are very funny, as in when he laid into Guy Richie's RocknRolla, but other times there's a lot of waffle when he has an easy target like Sex And The City 2.
