Sorry - my simple point was that most weapons kept for self defence simply end up being used on the home owner.

And the best weapons are in the kitchen anyway.

I think the only thing I'd have in the bedroom would be a can of Lynx. And I'd struggle to find that... One hell of a deterrent though

Especially if you have a lighter!

I have a large Mag light in the bedroom - primary for light if we had a power cut but as a lump of metal filled with batteries it would make a good club if needed

If memory serves, that's half the reason that the police use them.

You almost sound annoyed nobody has tried it! Sensible of them, from what you say :)

Truly, the only way to get proper justice (as a law abiding citizen) is to hope like hell nothing bad ever happens to you

If it's 18" long its not a katana, its a wakizashi. Generally preferred to the katana when fighting indoors because swinging big swords around in the house is a bit impractical.

/pedant.

Well yes. Wouldn't any intruder be crushed by all the young ladies who will come rushing to aid you? I've seen those ads!

I think Ernie uses Lynx as a sister repellant. :D

I would imagine that it is reasonably effective as most girls like manufactured pop nowadays.

katana
is a single sided curved blade
length as required or made …

Quote:
The katana is a type of Japanese sword also commonly referred to as a "samurai sword".[1] In general, the word katana in Japanese is applied to any kind of single-edged sword, of any origin. Some Japanese and Western sword enthusiasts define katana as the standard size, curved (as opposed to the older "tachi" style featuring more curvature) Japanese sword with a blade length of more than 60 cm (23.6 inches).[2]

The katana is characterized by its distinctive appearance: a curved, slender, single edged blade, circular or squared guard, and long grip able to accommodate two hands.[2] It has historically been associated with the samurai of feudal Japan, and has become renowned for its sharpness and cutting ability.

18" is a very handy size for close combat …
