Mark

have you ever tried to cut through a vintage gouda? :P

Yes, did it over the weekend, still have a block in my fridge; a proper Oud Gouda. I do however take a great deal of pride / care / attention of my knives, so they're sharper than most.

gouda scores as low as parmesan on cheese list tho. I don't get why someone would want 1kg of it....

Yes but with a slicer you get a nice uniform slice.

Efficient. :D

You do with a knife...

...unless the knife-wielder is an idiot.

Yes but most knife-weilders are idiots.

Ah, it's not as easy and as uniform as a slicer. Try it.

Why the feck am I so appreciative of a cheese slicer? When did I change? I even have a favourite frickin' tablecloth FFS!

Jeez, thank god the World Cup is on soon...

I recently got a cheese slicer and I love it.

While we're on the subject why does grated cheese taste better than sliced :?:

More surface area per unit volume

Wot RB said.

Larger surface area, more air can come into contact with it that increases the smell and taste.
