Is Harrison too old to be Indy now?

In the last film, he seemed out of place, and at times rather fatigued by it all. Maybe they are going to set up Shia as the “next” Indy to continue it, with Harrison taking on Sean Connery duties.

Personally, I felt that film #4 was a big mistake. They should have left it at the original trilogy, but you know these accountants and George Lucas types, they can’t leave anything alone.

90% of sequels are rubbish. I've not seen the latest Indy and have no plans to. I'd say he was over the hill now. Leave the action stuff to the young boys.

One day, he’ll leap over some statue and crack his hip. The rest of the film will have him hobbling around on a zimmer frame.

I am reminded of the Old Indy from the TV series (a massive nod to the world of TIntin if there ever was one). He was tatty, had one eye and seemed to be living the life of a hobo. They have to connect the character we know to that incarnation of him pretty soon.

Yes, he's too old. I wouldn't bother with Indy 5 just knock it on the head while there's still a little dignity left. Those scenes swinging through the jungle cannot be unseen and Shia LaBeouf is charmless.

It depends on his role in the film.
If he's playing some old duffer with arthritis in his hips so the best he can do is sit in a chair and point his finger* then that'd be cool, I guess.
If this franchise is to carry on and continue making the studio/distributors/Spielberg more money then they'll have to move on sooner or later.

Mark

* I'd be surprised if anyone got/gets that reference.

Apart from the big alien finish, I didn't think #4 was too bad...
That said, I thought the ending could have been better.. The hat passed onto the son, continue it from there...

Is this a Doctor Who reference? Are you talking about the first doctor, who was too old and unwell to do anything in the 10th anniversary episode except sit in his chair and point his finger?

Nothing quite so prosaic I'm sorry to say.

I appreciate the guesses folks. To put an end to all the speculation this is what I was making reference to.
I'm sure there's plenty more that can be added to that list now.

When you see Ford in interviews (and you can tell he's doing his best not to be gruff with people), he's actually a lot more sprightly than he was for any bit of Indy 4 - basically, I think he knew he had a clunker on his hands but it was too late :(

Shia... also not happy with the film:

What really annoys me is Lucas and Spielberg primarily being all about the money these days (unless it's something Spielberg's genuinely interested in). I mean what is Spielberg's role in the Transformers series really about, for instance? I suspect it's nothing more than the big paycheck and access to the latest CGI (at best), and that's just really sh1t for the consumer when you're talking about talent like his :(
