Ok, here's the first round of the new forum poll. I've tried to reflect the fact that we're aiming for a Top 10 (as that's what sparked the debate) so except for the final round (which will be the ordering of the 10) there will be at least 2 entries going through, and you'll have as many votes as entries going through.

I would urge people to at least try listening to all the tracks, although having listened to basically all of them myself, I'm not going to make an insistence on it being all the way through or anything ;)

Round 1 is going to be 10 tracks, and the Top 4 will go through, so 4 votes each.

Tracks are as follows:

Metallica - Battery
Pearl Jam - Garden
Led Zeppelin - Whole Lotta Love
The Beatles - I Saw Her Standing There
The Beatles - Revolution
Rage Against The Machine - Testify
Status Quo - Down, Down
Metallica - Enter Sandman
The Wonder Stuff - Give, Give, Give, Me, More, More, More
Kula Shaker - Hush

Each round will run for the usual 7 days, and I'll try and start them first thing Tuesday morning each week (reminders are allowed!). No changing once you've voted, it'll just get too complicated so think first!!

Well, for the first round that was easier than expected.

I couldn't bring myself to vote for 4.

Hush is a good track, but I prefer the original. The Kula Shaker version was pointless.
The Beatles have done some great rock tracks, but that ain't them.
I nearly voted for Quo because it's a classic, but I just couldn't.

The Led Zep track is a classic that still sounds good, so that got a vote.
Battery is not my favourite Metallica track, but it's still better than all the other tracks... except for
Enter Sandman, which is another classic and totally awesome. Definitely my favourite on that list, by about a million. Still not my favourite Metallica track though.

I don't think I've listened to The Wonder Stuff since I was at college

The poll is Rock N Roll.

By any definition, the early Beatles was Rock N Roll, and Blues.

Those two Metallica tracks reminded me I should have nominated "One". At the time I wasn't really thinking of metal.

I did nominate it so it will turn up at some point; would be funny if it only got One vote!

I wasn't disputing the Rock or the Roll. I just don't think those tracks are great.
