OK, that freaked me out. Went to the BBC's web site to check the score and there's a link that says 'if you want to watch the match live click here to go to ITV.COM'. That's just not right.

Guess they may have an agreement seeing as they're sharing the broadcasting, I think later on matches are on both channels at the same time (?). Perhaps ITV will do the same when it's the BBC showing matches and not them.

Probly. ITV player is pretty near DoS'ed though. http://www.tvcatchup.com seems much more reliable for me.

DAMN! Missed it! SA winning the first game is very good for the tournament overall though, keeps the locals interested.

edit: Just seen a replay. Absolute cracker.

Usually I'd be happy about that but with the vuvuzelas I'd prefer them to lose interest.

A good opening match, parity now restored 1-1.

Jeez...

Nice to see a great opening match, they're usually damp squibs.

Agreed completely. It's going to make 5Live almost un-listenable to. They just don't stop!

Great goal by SA though - commentary was spot on - if Brazil had done it we would never stop talking about it.

It wasn't exactly impressive football, it was ok. Both teams all over the place defensively so I guess draw if appropriate.

I don't mind those vuvuzelas, I filtered them out after few minutes and only noticed them when guys in studio mentioned them.
It sounded like a massive traffic jam of trucks with italian women behind the wheel. I really don't see the point in that, how is that supposed to help players? It will give them headache if anything...

Just seen the highlights, that SA goal really was pretty damned decent.

Hmmm. The BBC are having some technical troubles tonight. ITV coverage was far slicker.

They took a little break when the Mexicans scored.

It was a great game though - much better than this evenings game, which I'm finding a bit boring to be honest.

As an out-of-work electronics engineer the Beeb is really starting to p*** me off - just who the hell have they got working there?

Whoever it is they certainly can't use a spellchecker - the other day I saw them spell "House of Commons" with three m's.
