If you get one of these SIM-free, does it mean that you'll have to specially request a mini SIM or whatever it is that they need?

Yeah, you'll prob be able to get a micro sim from your provider for free though.

As much as I dislike Apple because of the way they do business and the way they treat their customers with contempt, even I have to admit that screen looks great with that pixel density.

Hmm, I could sell my old iPhone to O2 and they will give me £245

This could make an upgrade tempting.

That's jolly good of them.

Comparing O2 PAYG minimum with minutes and data (£15 /month) vs minimum Vodfone contract.

O2- Phone = £599 + 24 months at £15 = £959
Vodafone - Phone = £189 + 24 months at £25 = £789.

I'll def be going contract if the rest are similar!

Just realised I was comparing the 16GB contract to the 32GB PAYG.

Comparing at 16GB price still makes it £859 PAYG vs £789 contract though.

I can get £173 for my 16GB 3G. It would make the cost of an upgrade a bit easier to swallow.

microSIM. And yes, you probably would. Although you can have normal SIMS in which you can snap the microSIM out, I suspect they'll start to be supplied as standard soon.

Unlocked phones are always much much more expensive than you can get them for if you agree to a contract. For example, an unlocked HTC Desire is £399 and a HTC HD2 is £434 (from Expansys.com) and neither of them have near as much built in storage as an iPhone. The Apple price for the iPhone 4 is actually quite competitive.

reserve and collect for iPhone 4 on Apple's site gives you PAYG and Pay Monthly options for Orange and O2 only, does this mean reserving will allow you to get it for free providing the contract taken out allows it?
