In the middle of nowhere it would make sense, but bearing in mind he was at home I think the decision was a little rash, especially as it didn't work and the EMS found him anyway.

To be fair, we've all woken up after a good night out with our arm round a woman who in the cold light of day doesn't quite match up to what we remember, and severing your own arm suddenly seems like a reasonable cost for a quick getaway.
Or is that just me?

Seriously, can you imagine cutting through your own arm. The pain, the blood, the mental strain. The the paramedics turn up. Holy [LIFTED]. Personally I'd have waited a bit longer before even considering butchering my arm.
