I've seen this on a smaller scale a few years back when a few friends had kids the same school age and from birth upwards it was an ongoing competition. Its pathetic really.

Everyone knows my baby is best ;)

Glad my mum wasn't a vacuous, superficial, competition monkey when I was growing up.

jonbwfc I was behind her in a queue today - but I wouldn't describe it as 'bushy'.

To me, best equals most fun.
That has nothing to do with the amount of food, toys, entertainment, money spent etc. A simple trip to the park could make the best party.

Yeah, that's the funny thing isn't it.

The kids simply don't care! But the mums are getting all competitive - it's pretty lame.

Yes my best friends wife spent thousands on toys for her two toddlers and she was really miffed when they were more interested in the boxes. :D

There was an item in the news about someone not being allowed to take their child to a prom by helicopter. It was a primary school prom FFS.

Didn't even know they happened.

I live next to a prep school and last year a number of the kids parents arrived for the school sports day in helicopters. We were all warned ahead of the day.

My sister in law works in a public school and the "normal" ( based on the most use that method ) method of arrival / departure for the girls is by Helicopter.

I used to work at a private school, and in the 90's we had the princess of Wales land in the grounds on a helicopter! :)

After which their entire life is a let down. They cannot use a helicopter to get to the sales or lunch.
