When you plug in the headphones they're not working and sound still comes out the external speakers. Anyone else come across this before? About to send it for repair as it sounds like a dodgy connection to me.

Thanks!

Only a vague incling, but have you tried tweaking the settings under 'sounds' in the system prefs? IIRC some macs don't necessarily switch the output to 'headphones' just because you plug some in, you have to go and tell it to output through the headphones. IIRC I used to have a little menu icon thing so I could switch between headphones and speakers on my old G5 iMac.

I've only ever done it with a chicken so far, but if required I wouldn't have any problems doing it with other animals at all.

We tried the software but think it might be hardware related. There seems to be a lot on the net about it so I think it's a common problem.

Thanks for your responses though.
