I can't stand Turkish Delight because it tastes like perfumed gunk. I love shrimp though, because they taste like sugar. My favourite sweetie type sweets are dolly mixtures or liquorish allsorts. I am a big fan of jelly babies. Our TD teacher used to give one out as a prize sometimes, and then there's the Doctor Who reference. I still buy them occasionally. My most purchased sweets recently are humbugs. Especially at Christmas. I'd never had one until I was about 37. They are fantastic My mum used to make a kind of brittle toffee with bubbles in. It was razor sharp and tasted of soda. That was really nice. I hadn't thought of that in over 20 years, and now I want to find the recipe... Also home made fudge. I make it very rarely, but it's awesome. I prefer vanilla or plain, but chocolate is tolerable. The other home made sweet I learned from my mum is a salted peanut butter chocolate. I had to give the recipe out at work because it was popular One of my customers runs a chocolate factory making the nibbles they sell in 5lb tubs in sweet shops. We have one of these huge tubs full of orange chocolate bits in the fridge right now, which is a shame since we're all on a diet

I used to like pear drops and humbugs. Though mars mars, marathon were also favourites.

Pear drops and lemon drops. From back in the day where an old woman would scrabble about in big jars with unhygenic hands and throw some in a bag.

Just a quick point - what we call 'turkish delight' in the UK, isn't quite what you get in Turkey. I had some when I was over there recently and 'our' turkish delight is what they call 'rosewater' turkish delight. They also do it with all sorts of fruit flavours and even mint, which is really nice. And no chocolate coating!

I can imagine a mint jelly type thing being very tasty. I never get bored of mint. Except in peas and potatoes. Whoever came up with that stupid idea?!
