Okies
It's probably the PSU then. You got another you could test with (or borrow to test with)?

Looks like overheated/corrupted vRAM on the graphics to me, only seen it on Nvidia cards I have owned funnily enough

Oopsies - reading fail on my part. In that case it would have to be the gfx card itself then - my money's on the VRAM.

I used to get that on my 8800GT many moons ago if I overclocked it. I guessed it was getting a bit on the warm side. Try a fan upgrade or replace the gfx card? I think something like this http://www.microdirect.co.uk/home/product/45203/Arctic-Cooling-Accelero-S1-Rev-2-VGA-Cooler?source=googleps allows you to bolt on a fan for good measure too. You can get little heatsinks for the VRAM too IIRC which might help

Replacing a gfx card will not need a reformat. Just a driver install.

I don't think getting a new graphics card will fix it. There are too many power supplies blowing up for my liking, and I am naming the motherboard as the prime suspect. Sounds to me like he needs a new PC

I'll name Professor Plumb, in the Library, with the Candle Stick. Oh wait, that's not the game

Replacing a gfx card shouldn't be the reason for doing a backup! Backups should be done regardless! (8-p)
