The thing about the Reliant piece was that it really wasn't set up, as far as I can see. YES, Jeremy did push the car beyond it's limits to get a laugh, but I don't think that there was any trick to it- the car basically is crap. Of course, the wheely was a trick. I didn't realise that it really was Phil Oakey; I thought Jeremy was taking the mickey, until Peter Stringfellow turned up the next time. I agree that the volcano bit really was a waste of time. At the very least, it's old news and for those who paid more interest, we've seen all the documentaries that we could take. The reasonably priced car's demise was "typical" Top Gear OTT nonsense, but it beats watching it go through a crusher. I did think that they might have taken the Sparco seats out first.

If it hadn't have been for the Robin being inherently funny, that episode would nearly have been a complete washout

Hmmmm.... I thought they over did the Reliant piece somewhat.
Overall I found that first episode disappointing.

Thanks HK. I started reading the thread a few minutes ago, and was going to say something as soon as I saw the incorrect name, but you well and truly beat me to it. As a point of interest, does anybody else remember the Reliant Kitten? It had 4 wheels! Reliant Kitten WebsiteDon't bother clicking on the gallery link though, as you'll get this message:- Sorry!! The Picture Gallery is no longer available due to the continued misuse of the Gallery So... Here's a link with some pictures: LINK

Yes - one used to park across the road from where I lived in the 1980s. Don't forget the Reliant Scimitar either: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reliant_Scimitar

Another good looking car!!
And I see they only stopped production in 1995 - the same year that my car, Pierre, was manufactured!

There's a gorgeous SE5a that runs around here. I thought about getting one, but lack lustre performance and so many doggy ones around... shame really. Lovely cars. When they're not on fire and the electrics are working.

If one is diving so close to the limits that +/- 1% will make a difference then the error has already been made.

Yes, Amy Williams was the highlight of the show for me - she's a very good looking lady! Are you of the opinion that vehicles should have feminine names, or none at all?
