TV experts are predicting that 3D will mean a resurgence for plasma, which has taken a bit of a hammering of late, due to the relative cheapness of LCD TVs.

But it seems that the introduction of LED technology has added to the costs of LCDs, now putting the plasma technology at the more reasonable price point.

I thought that was interesting, but I'll be quite surprised if the 3D fuss is even ongoing by then

I'd pay more to have a low power LED over a juicy plasma screen.

Same here. 3D is not even a consideration for me. Low power consumption is a real benefit. 3D is only a benefit when the majority of programs are in 3D.

Does anyone actually buy plasma TV's anymore? Every I know who's got a flat screen has LCD.
I'm waiting a few years for OLED before I ditch my CRT TV.
3D TV doesn't interest me at all, though 3D gaming does. Since I do all my gaming on my PC I see no need for me to get a 3D TV.

Same here. I'll be damned if I'll be sat with 3D glasses on just to watch TV, gaming yes (if it's any good).

The same for me. I am getting a LED LCD soon because one TV is on its last legs, the main CRT is still perfectly fine for another decade as it is barely used, when it will get replaced by an OLED screen. 3D may not appeal to many. It is just a way of them to get buy a new TV. It is of benefit to the manufacturers and few others.
