I don't want to hear any size-ist comments about Natalie. She's probably going to be the best thing about this effort. They should have asked James Hetfield to be Thor, I reckon.

It was her that made the Midget Girl comment IIRC ;)

5'3" apparently. If they go for an early incarnation of The Avengers she could play The Wasp who was so small she could get into the Hulk's ear and distract him with a loud buzzing. Anyone watching the World Cup will sympathise.

Is Michael Douglas's new film a sequel or a spin-off?

http://www.guardian.co.uk/film/2010/jun ... uglas-film

Quote:
One of the trickiest legal debates in Hollywood history has been triggered by Michael Douglas's ex-wife Diandra. She divorced him in 2000, on the grounds of his infidelity, with a reported $45m (£30m) payoff. Yet Diandra is now suing for a share in Douglas's profits from Wall Street 2, on the basis that the original settlement gave her a share of future exploitation of any movies he made during the marriage, including any "spin-off". Her loving attention as a wife gave him the mental calm needed to create Gordon Gekko. So she is entitled to a slice of WS2. Oh no, says Michael. Wall Street 2 is a "sequel", not a "spin-off". A spin-off presumably clones the original characters for a videogame or T-shirt. A sequel organically progresses them into a radically different narrative state that Diandra and her lawyers can't touch.

I think that she got a whole lot more than that, but even so I expect that the lawyers had a hand in this demand. They will benefit as well.

No :o How dare you sully the good name of the legal profession? Surely lawyers do it for the sake of justice and the law, not to be greedy and make obscene amounts of money?

;)

Don't know if this has been posted earlier but it seems we have a new Spider Man....and he's British. Must admit I've never heard of Andrew Garfield but then I've never heard of director Marc Webb either. Apart from one film all he's directed are music videos.

Why is this a re-boot anyway? We don't need the origin story again. Just looks like Sony are doing this on the cheap because they can't afford a Sam Raimi effects blowout. Let's have Mysterio or The Lizard this time.....please no Green Goblin.

Clicky

More chatter here:

http://www.totalfilm.com/news/andrew-ga ... r-man-role

Quote:
“I’m incredibly excited about Andrew Garfield,” said producer Avi Arad.

“In the Spider-Man tradition, we were looking for a smart, sensitive, and cool new Peter Parker who can inspire us and make us laugh, cry, and cheer.

He must have missed Maguire's outings...

I think the best I could say about Raimi's efforts is that he did a reasonable job; he's just not that good a director

I think the idea is to turn this into The Ultimates, where Parker is still at high school, Eddie Brock (Venom) is his mate, and so on. It would allow for previously seen characters to have another shot at actually being worth watching
