They also need to be tested and proven. Especially if you are relying on a 3rd party.

I especially liked this bit: So, not only did they not have a sufficient backup strategy but one of their most important assets was on its way out anyway. Penny pinching in the extreme me thinks. Software worth £250k should be looked after a bit better than being on one laptop with a taped in hard drive. Morons. They deserve to go bankrupt for this level of stupidity.

they clearly were doing so many things wrong here. If it was so important why not lock the laptop in a safe as a minimum precaution let alone all the other comments here.
