That would be very funny..... But "Mono" is actually more portable than Java, as it's mid code and the framework converts to the low level code http://www.mono-project.com/Main_Page

Good find Nick! I'm sure you're right, but I can't immediately find anything to prove that Mono is more portable... It seems to compile down to bytecode like Java and run similarly to Java, is it just that there are more Mono VM's out there? Java runs on a whole host of devises and can even be compiled down to not need the JVM (though some features (such as Swing) can't be done like this)

Most mobile feature or smartphones support Java, as do Blu-Ray players, lots of industrial devices and many cars, washing machines etc. few, if any, of which also use .net/mono.
