TBH I never knew shill-bidding was a crime (against eBay policy sure, but not a crime), and I'm in the field.

I never knew what it was called. It is unethical even if you do not know it is illegal. Bidding on your own auction to bid up the price for anything, must be illegal.

I have been asked by a friend to keep an eye on one of his auctions. I would have bid but I fell asleep, it was for a digital photo-frame. It went dirt cheap but no rules were broken, as I would have definitely bought it. I would have saved on the delivery as he could have dropped it over the next time we met up.
