That's a shame man.

Perhaps it will improve?

Always a danger when you change, hence the "better the devil you know" attitude...

I have that dilemma now. Do I give up a great job for one which pays 50% more and risk ending up in purgatory?

Mention that to your current employer and you could get a rise.

At least you have a job. ;) I've been made redundant and I am looking for something new...

Wo, when did that happen?

On the bright side, anyone that employs you next is unlikely to be so tight as to be running vintage PCs with 256MB ram

Their loss. You're an international treasure!

It is a dilemma. The company you are in might be safe but the new one may not. In the end you have to take a chance if. If you have been where you are now for more than two years then you have additional employment rights which could be useful, such as redundancy if it all goes badly. You will need to stay at the new job for two years to regain those rights. Swings and roundabouts, but definitely worth trying.

I really do think that's rather silly. I'd like to hear more on the subject, personally.

Want to swap?

Try to find work in Lancashire - that'll cheer you up about the job you have

I put it in the Random [LIFTED] thread about 3 weeks back...

Dave, you were like THE most stable person on here. House, Mrs, solid job, Mondeo...... (although you've changed that now haven't you?)

What's your plan? Anything on your current town? Would you move for work/could you?

Really sorry Dave I must have missed that.

Yep, bought the house, once my probationary period was up. Replaced the Mondeo with a Toyota Verso in March... Gave a big house warming party end of May, then, first week of June, I was made redundant. :(

Looking for new jobs in the area (about a 50-60KM radius). Sent out about 10 or so applications so far and looking for other opportunities, there are plenty of jobs in my area of expertise advertised, so I'll keep my thumbs pressed (crossing your fingers in Germany is just when lying, pressing your thumbs into your palms is for luck).
