swimming was acceptable to Muslims but posed a high risk of swallowing water that may break a fast

Wuuuuuurgh! It's political correctness gone maaaaaad!

I notice it's guidance in the Beeb report, but in the links to several papers on the right schools have been told.

Sheesh.

Well so long as they don't stop the other pupils from swimming just to appease Muslim parents then I don't care.

Read the link only briefly. Was it all just the council making stuff up or did they actually consult anyone?

The Muslim Council was consulted, apparently.

It also suggests re-scheduling sex education classes during the holy lunar month, as Muslim followers who have reached puberty are required to avoid sexual thoughts during this period.

Puberty can be any time in a childs teen years, so why not just cancel the classes for all during Ramadan. Though won't most schools be closed during this period so no impact anyway?
