Hold on I thought that the benefit of joining the Air Force was that you could fly to foreign countries before you dropped bombs on them. Now you can do that from your bedroom.

Interesting. That's the sort of thing you'd expect the Yanks to be making rather than us.

We still have an excellent arms industry. It is a bright spot in manufacturing for the UK.

It's not our arms industry's capabilities I doubt. Meerly the government funding available for these sort of projects.

I don't like this one bit. Anything that takes troops away from the battlefield and thus desensitises them to the grief and hurt their actions cause can only be a bad thing (particularly the bombing of civilian targets).

Well maybe some of the technology could be sold to them in the future.

I have to admit I was surprised when I first heard about it.

A less favourable view

It's a year late, it was built with no obvious market or objective in mind, we can't afford it any more and the incoming defense review will probably say we won't buy it and BAE have been shedding UK jobs in favour of the jobs in the US (where the real defense contract money is) all through it's development.

Indeed. This is when CoD MW players become soldiers. Bad, very bad.

Not sure I follow this. Aren't these planes primarily taking on roles already done by pilots? As such, they're normally too far away from their target to see anything that personal.

Also, my understanding is we don't bomb civilian targets except by accident (but I could be wrong on this) as the PR is just terrible.

+1

It actually first reminded me of the Cylon fighter from BSG.
