Not sure I follow this. Aren't these planes primarily taking on roles already done by pilots? As such, they're normally too far away from their target to see anything that personal.

Also, my understanding is we don't bomb civilian targets except by accident (but I could be wrong on this) as the PR is just terrible.


I would submit that flying over Iraq and killing someone is different to doing it from the comfort of an RAF office in Blighty. As stated by adidan, it's akin to COD:MW.

Unmanned fighters might be a different matter. They will be able to withstand far higher G turns than a manned fighter. In fact they could turn out to be the first line of defence. With manned fighters being used when air supremacy is nearly secure.

In this particular case they're talking about strike aircraft (bombers), not fighters.

Yes but bombers can be easier to develop being larger. So a natural first step, plus automated flying for a fighter would take a lot of computing power in case of jammers.
