How is it worse than tinned fruit? You can buy that fresh, but it goes off. Tins are handy for long term storage in case of zombie attack or other such perils.
Sandwiches packed in those plastic triangles barely last one day at room temperature. The canned product lasts for months or years. It's not the same at all.
How is it any worse than buying a pie in a tin? They're quite popular, but you have to cook them so they're not even that convenient.
Did you know they sell tinned sponge puddings? People buy them. That's pretty damned similar to a tinned strawberry jam sandwich.
You could keep dried yeast, flour, water, tinned meats and other preserves ready to make your own sandwiches, but you'd need to bake the bread first. Not easy if you're camping.
Bread in a tin does not sound that stupid to me. With no freezer, only McDonald's burger buns keep for more than a month.
I won't be buying it personally. I'd rather eat crackers or pita, which are the traditional method for preserving "bread".
