Here's an idea:

Combine Internet and Networking and add Programming to Open Source.

Does that sound sensible?

Call it "Open Source / Cross Platform".

That would be like having a board called "Macs / PC's"

If we are going to have a programming section ( which is fine by me ) can we call it Development as that avoids the issue if something is programming or scripting etc.

If the person asking the programming questions isn't going to release the source code under an open source license, it isn't open source and doesn't belong in the open source board!

If they are writing the code using an open source tool or an open source language?

I agree with that.

Will this be one category for all, or should there be a Mac Dev, Windows Dev, Linux Dev sections?

I'd say 1 category it avoids cross platform problems that way

+1

I'd also add that the board probably won't be terribly terribly busy, so it won't be hard to keep track of things...

Isn't it classed as a board? Forums contain boards, boards contain threads? Or have I picked up the wrong stick somewhere?

How about boards for

Development ( All platforms script and programming )
Hardware ( PC’s, servers, routers etc )
Software ( PC, OS’s, Opensource, cross platform)
Apple ( Hardware and Software )

I just don't see the need for a separate hardware and software for both PC's & Mac's and an open source board.
