The TV clip thing is from Verhoeven. He used it in Robocop as well as others.

I guess you know he directed Starship Troopers? It's a bit of a theme when he want's to do 'dystopic future-y' type stuff.
But, yeah, Starship Troopers. It's awesome.

Yes, that's why I mentioned his previous films.

I love Starship Troopers. Other films may be more meaningful, or make you think more, but the only good bug is a dead bug. 8-)

Having said that the sequel was dire. And the threequel had promise with the introuduction of powered armour exoskeletons (from the original book) but didn't use them effectively.

If one is diving so close to the limits that +/- 1% will make a difference then the error has already been made.

Actually, I kinda enjoyed the sequels.
All good fun, shame they threw away the societal message of the first in order to hunt moar bugz, but hey, hunting bugs is good times.

Starship Troopers can be seen as a very good allegory for the Vietnam war.

I wouldn't think so personally. There may be little choice to avoid military service, but there is no general conscription.

Okay, I see what you did there … think about the bugs as the enemy though, surely you've got to see it then?

Surely it's a really good allegory for the job of an exterminator?

Which is what America wanted to be in Vietnam.

I like it. (Well obviously not literally, McCarthyism is/was [LIFTED].) Clever Mr. Ark, clever.

I've been thinking but almost everything I come up with doesn't tally with the forces, events, situations and locations of the American war in Vietnam.

No, I like what is now 4, 5 and 6, I just don't love them. From what I've seen, 1, 2 and 3 are just bum

Alias couldn't even hold my interest despite them finding an excuse to fit Garner into as many saucy outfits as possible. Which is obviously admirable, but still...

I don't think you could describe Serenity as "under-appreciated" though, do you??

Besides, it's Firefly, not Serenity.

Serenity was under appreciated by audiences.

Firefly was under appreciated by Fox (along with every other good show ever).
